The Door County United Swimmers from Sevastopol had a strong showing at the sectional meet at Neenah High School on Saturday, November 5. The team finished 5th out of 13 teams collectively in the D1 meet.

Cassie Rankin placed 6th in the 200 Medley Relay, 6th in the 200 Freestyle, 6th in the 400 Freestyle Relay, and 7th in the 500 Freestyle.

Sophomore Caitlyn Hasenjager finished 12th in the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 breast.

Sturgeon Bay senior Christy Braun qualified for state in the 200IM and the 100 Breaststroke.

“The DCU girls’ performance at sectionals was phenomenal!” said Coach Kelly Rankin.” All their hard work this season culminated in 95 percent best times and a fifth-place finish for our small but mighty team.”

The previous weekend, the girls participated in the conference meet at Clintonville. Again, the team dominated and took the conference championship with 582 points. The next closest team, Seymour, had 391.

Cassie Rankin placed first in the 200-meter freestyle, finishing with the season’s best time. She also finished first in the 200 medley relay and second in the 500 freestyle and 400 free relay. Caitlyn Hasenjager finished third place in the 200 individual medley, with the season’s best time, and third place in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Door County United Swim team walked away with numerous all-conference titles.

Cassie Rankin received first-team all-conference in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay. She also received second-team all-conference in the 500 freestyle and 400 free relay. Caitlyn Hasenjager secured an honorable mention in the 200 individual medley and 200 freestyle relay.
