Miss Door County and Miss Door County’s Teen crowned two new winners. Saturday, Feb. 3, Miss Door County held its annual pageant. Lindsay Schuh and Kalei Klaubauf resigned their duties and passed on their crowns to Sevastopol seniors Kylee Duessler and Emily Bley.

Emily Bley has been competing in the pageant for three years, and her hard work, as well as dedication, have paid off. On the night of the competition, Bley sang “December” by Taylor Swift for her talent.

Not only did Bley win the Miss Door County’s Teen, but she also won Teen Congeniality, Teen Overall Interview, and Teen Overall Evening Wear. Bley is looking forward to her year of service and spreading her message throughout the county.

“I am excited to serve my community and expand on the work that I have already been actively doing,” Bley said, “And I can’t wait for what this year entails.”

The crowning moment left Bley speechless.

“When I first heard my name called, I was speechless,” Bley said. “I dropped down and started crying, happy tears, of course. I was filled with joy and so thankful.”

Even though it was Kylee Duessler’s first year competing, she made a great impression on the judges and took home the crown. For her talent, Duessler performed “Andante et Allegro” on her trumpet. Along with the Miss Door County title, Duessler won the Best Interview and Best Evening Wear and tied for first place for the STEAM Scholarship.

Duessler is looking forward to her year of service and getting involved with her community.

¨I’m so excited!¨ Duessler said. “I have big plans for my year, and I can’t wait to start getting into our schools and connecting with athletes.”

The crowning moment for Duessler was surreal.

“I couldn’t believe that I had actually won and that I would get to have Emily as my teen,” Duessler said. “I was freaking out, and I’m so grateful that I had so many friends and family members there to support me.”

Duessler will advance to the Miss Wisconsin pageant, but in the meantime, she and Bley will appear around the county at parades and other events.
