Lady Pioneers are Regional Champs

Volleyball team wins third consecutive regional championship

The team poses with their third-consecutive regional championship plaque.

The Lady Pioneers volleyball team beat Central Wisconsin Christian in the Regional final game on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Pioneers lost their first set 22-25 but came back and crushed it taking the last three sets to victory.

“Sometimes you don’t know what to expect during one of these games,” Outside Hitter Alaina Schopf said. “As part of our normal routine, we jammed out to music and believed in ourselves as a team.”

Along with Schopf’s 18 kills, Johanna Andreae finished the game with 26 kills, including the game-winning kill hit into the block that landed out of bounds.

“I felt honored that Emma [the team setter] trusted me enough to let me hit the last ball,” Andreae said. “The biggest piece of our team is trust, and I feel we really showed that in this game.”

The Pioneers will play N.E.W Luthern at N.E.W on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 pm in round one of sectionals.
