This past weekend, the United soccer team traveled to Wrightstown, where they lost to Marinette and Altoona/Fall Creek Co-op by scores of 0-2 and 1-5. Despite the recent losses, they currently sit second in the Packerland conference with a record of 4-1 in the conference and 7-5 overall.
“We like how we are as a team right now. We feel really good,” senior Gabe Peterson said.
Despite the three losses, the team feels good about where they are at so far in the season.
“We underperformed against Sturgeon Bay,” senior Gabe Peterson said. “But we like where we are right now.”
The team lost to Sturgeon Bay, the defending conference champs, by a score of 7-1 early in the season.
Overall, the team graduated only one senior last year, so it relies on their experience this season.
“We only lost one senior, and the chemistry among the team is much better than in the previous year,” senior Tyler Grooters said. “The team has gotten much better, as opposed to other teams struggling to bounce back after losing multiple seniors.”
The United team looks to keep the momentum going as they begin a stretch of conference games at Green Bay N.E.W Lutheran on Sept. 23, at Providence Academy on Sept. 26, and in the big rematch game at home against Sturgeon Bay on Sept. 30.
