The boys football season kicked off with a convincing win at home versus Wild Rose 60-6. This win from the team broke a streak of 699 consecutive days without a win, finally ending the two-year drought.
“We came into the season expecting effort and attitude,” said head coach Dan Judas. “Seeing commitment from the team is very encouraging, and the whole team has met our standards.”
The offense and defensive sides of the ball shined as the offense went for 432 yards combined for the win. Junior quarterback Logan Schuh rushed for 155 yards on nine attempts, with three of those attempts going for touchdowns. Schuh also passed for two touchdowns, completing 5 of 9 passes for 90 yards.
“He’s a good playmaker, and that’s something we knew about him since his freshman year,” Judas said. “But it takes the whole team. All eight guys on the field helped him succeed at a high level”.
On the rushing side of the offense, Landon Frank rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown, while freshman Bo Tanck rushed for 100 yards and scored two touchdowns on just seven attempts. Reid Kacmarynski chipped in on the receiving side, going for four catches on 83 yards receiving.
On the defensive side of the ball, the defense recorded 37 total tackles, with four of those being for a loss. They also had two sacks in the game, one each from Sladon Asher and Michael Wautlet.
The Pioneers continued their winning ways against conference opponent Surring last week, winning on the road 6-0. The Pioneers take on Lena in a big conference game Friday night at home at 7:00 pm.
